Noise pollution again!

Bedlam view

The bastards have been at it again!

We came in late last night after a good night at La Luna, Alcalali. I suppose we arrived home around 01:45hrs, watched a smatter of recorded TV with a last drink then hopped to bed.

Could we sleep? Could we hell.

All the doors were closed, the windows closed, the wooden shutters to the window tightly closed, but could we sleep?

1.5km away

The daft bastards down in the village were having a fiesta again. NOT that I begrudge a bit of good time and all that, but the bloody village is 1.5km away from us in a straight line, and the racket STILL kept me awake.

It's ridiculous! How CAN they possibly stand such volume of shit, so late at night? I don't even know how they can produce such noise. It went on until the extremes of morning -probably around 06:00hrs. I lost track. My nerves were shattered.

Telekinesis

I hate the bastards for it. Why can't they be like NORMAL people? I tried using mind over matter to bring on rain - it didn't work. I tried to blow up their equipment by telekineses - it didn't work, I just lost sleep. Why-oh-why do the Spanish tolerate so much noise?

You can't tell me it's tradition. The equipment to generate such high volumes of noise simply wasn't available traditionally. Tradition would have been brass bands, a bit of umpah - quite acceptable. Modern bands, pumping out millions of watts of shit, simply IS NOT tradition.

The bloody councils seem to think tourists want garbage pumped at them for entertainment, there's no other reason to allow it. They're thinking with their pockets again.

Well listen Mr. Councillor, PEOPLE DON'T WANT THE SHIT NOISE! Think about the poor pensioners in the middle of the village instead of the money you're making. What do older villagers think? Have you thought about asking them?

Well I asked and do you know what the answer was - "What can we do. It's what the youngsters want." What the youngsters want -- F*** the youngsters. A whole community arsed about for youngsters. Balls to it!

Parking, loud music and fiestas!

So, the silly season is upon us again – in full splendour

Warm nights (well bloody hot actually), blissful days, a myriad of visitors, who could ask for more?

Well I could actually!

For one thing, I can’t find a bloody place to park. The local resort of Calpe is a definite no-no for the next month or so. The usual places to park are crowded to overflowing, and of course, in Spain, no one thinks to provide more spaces to park to accommodate visitors.

Instead what do they do? They build on vacant plots where we once parked. Parking lots in Spain seems to be anathema to councils. Wherever there’s an empty spot to park, they allow an apartment block to spring up – more visitors yet less places to park. Someone, somewhere, must be barking mad! Have they never heard of forward planning?

For another thing, it’s fiesta time. Now I’ve nothing against fiestas, I think they’re a wonderful continuation of a social event that must go back several hundred years. Good luck. I enjoy watching them. However, what I DON’T enjoy, is the stupidly loud music afterwards. It doesn’t START at about 1am and goes on until 6am or 7am. The bloody amplified row is terrible .... and it goes on for a WEEK. A whole week of damn noise pollution, no wonder a lot of friends choose to go back to the UK during this period. It drives you mad!

A few years ago, the music was so loud at around 4am that, even with all window and doors closed (and the night so hot and sticky that you want all windows thrown open), AND with all wooden shutters to windows closed, the music was HORRENDOUS. I had to pour olive oil in my ears and put cotton wool in to try and keep the sound down – and I live nearly 2 km from the village. How can things like that be allowed?

You’re not telling me it’s traditional. No way! Amplified music of that volume has only been possible for the last ten years or so. Brass bands, yes. Woodwind, yes! Amplified shit, NO!

Why do councils allow it - because they’re pandering to the teenage element that makes up a lot of the visitors. Sod the locals; bring in money from visitors – what a bloody attitude.

Noisy Lemmings!

Well .... It's silly season again. The holiday makers are on us, the lemmings have landed.

The villa close to us (when I say close I mean 300 metres. not REALLY close) has visitors. Tonight they decided to have some sort of party, and what do you know - noise. Noise, bloody noise! It pisses me off.

Why do people behave so selfishly - is it only me that suffers? The row they made was ridiculous. Someone had an electric guitar they thought they could play, and I'm sure a cat actually screached into a microphone.

They were clapping - I think. They may have been slapping each other with wet fish I suppose, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Why insist on inflicting it all on us? We have our own music to listen to whilst eating our evening meal. Okay, so you might think we're just as bad, but I checked .... there was no indication we even had it on at the perimeter of our garden, never mind 300 metres away. I have no wish to listen to someone else's choice. Why do they want to force their shit on us?

BECAUSE THEY'RE SELFSIH BASTARDS, THAT'S WHY!

For God's sake folks. Turn the f*****g music down. Consider your neighbours.

Bloody Horny Lot!

Noise pollution, insidious, obtrusive, pisses me off.

Most of us object to it, few of us do anything about it – we daren’t now – we’re liable to get kicked to death on our own doorsteps. So, we’re mightily glad when Mr. Lawmaker takes the responsibility out of our hands.

The good people of in India are no different … except they go one step further in their ‘not doing anything about it’ approach. They IGNORE it.

Traffic noise in Mumbai is apparently verging out of control, so the police introduced the concept of a NO HONKING day. Great stuff, good initiative … however, the situation became so bad in India’s most bustling of cities, that drivers honked even MORE than usual. The appeals of the police were in vain, I’m afraid.

Disconnect the bloody horns, I say. Shove a screwdriver through ‘em! Rip 'em out! How the hell do drivers think honking horns will make them move any faster!

Noisy Bastards!

Ignorant

Society has spawned a breed of people so ignorant, so bloody full of themselves they feel they have to include everyone in their conversations.
You'll find them everywhere, preening in brassy voices, airing loud and outspoken views, drowning everyone's conversation.
You’ll hear them in restaurants, bars, in the street and … oh, oh… next door

Loud music

Noisy neighbours are the curse of modern society.
We live a considerable distance from our nearest neighbour, maybe 200 metres. So when they’re in the garden, WHY do they insist on talking loud enough for us to hear every word …. WHY insist on playing loud music. AND WHY have yappy, snappy, dogs that never stop bloody barking.

Scintillating?

Do they think we can’t afford our own music system, do they believe their choice of music to be superior? Maybe they think their conversation to be of such scintillating stuff we can’t wait to listen to the next instalment.

WRONG! I don't want to hear! In fact, you piss me off!

When I was young, it was considered vulgar to speak loudly. Conversations were private affairs, and ONLY included those it was directed towards.
What’s gone wrong? When did it happen? When did ignorance take over?

Oh, for a little decorum and good manners! Let's start a campaign to let all noisy people know just how vulgar they really are.

So just shut the shit up and think about others.
